Pandemic Pup
Meet Skylar, our Jersey girl, born on the first day of Spring in Toms River. She’s a beautiful border terrier puppy, and she came into our lives in May when we ventured out of state, masked and hand-sanitized, to pick her up halfway between NJ and ME. We are totally in love with her, and she seems pretty happy with us too! She loves her squeaky stuffed dragon and her alarmingly realistic stuffed rat. She loves to run fast, and she loves our feet. (She loves our feet a little too much actually, but maybe it’s a phase?) She can swim pretty well, and she’s also perfectly happy sitting on the boat while we row. Oh, and the best thing? She howls with abandon. The sound is unlike anything we’ve heard from an animal or a human. It’s almost musical, it’s soulful, expressive and uninhibited. I kind of hope it’s not just a puppy thing.
Update February 18 She still loves our feet, it wasn’t a phase. At this moment I am watching her lick the insides of one of my clogs. And she still howls, and she is deeply loved.
