Initialed and dated on front, signed on back, float-mounted and framed in a lightweight IKEA wood/plexi frame, dimensions 16-1/4”x20”x1” deep. Please note that the frame is protective and easy to hang or ship, but not archival/gallery grade.

Story of Bear Selfie II

A bear selfie is different from a bear portrait, because the bear has agency. This is a life-sized selfie, and it’s made in a totally screen-free process, no phone needed! Actually Bear Selfie II is partly inspired by notes, photos and newspaper clippings that have come to me in the mail over the years from my mom, who keeps me posted on black bear visits and happenings in my hometown. This is a monotype, meaning there is only one; I made this from the same initial plate as Bear Selfie I, but I gave the plate a different haircut, then painted with intaglio inks and oil paint, and then transferred to paper using an etching press.
