Monotype on archival Arches Rives BFK paper with a paper sculpture butterfly made with markers on vellum and bookbinding thread sewn into the paper, 2023, 1/1, paper measures 19”x 13”

Float-mounted and framed in a lightweight IKEA wood/plexi frame, dimensions 20”x 16-1/4”x1” deep. Please note that the frame is protective and easy to hang or ship, but not archival/gallery grade.

Story of Butterfly Effect

Butterfly Effect is inspired by a bear who once lived in New Orleans, and now lives in Walpole (NH), and by chaos theory and our interdependence on small, beautiful things. This is a monotype, meaning there is only one; it’s made from a plexi plate which I painted with intaglio inks and oil paint, then transferred to paper using an etching press, and then embellished with a handmade butterfly.
