A monotype is a one-of-a-kind work on paper- signed and dated
This bear is inspired by the place I grew up and my bear-friendly neighbors, especially Joanne, who has shared her stunning photographs of black bears with me. It was made using a special version of monotype called a ‘trace’, which I learned from the wonderful Jean Gumpper. A trace monotype is delightfully unpredictable, press-free, and open to mixed media embellishments like paint.
