Giant II is part of a series of experimental monotypes made from shaped plates in the spring and summer of 2023, and the second Giant in the group inspired in part by my home, and two books - Richard Powers’ Overstory and Richard Preston’s The Wild Trees. Giant II was included in The Painterly Print, a group exhibition of direct monotypes for the Gallery at Thornton Oaks (Brunswick, ME) in collaboration with the painter and children’s book creator Marcia Sewall, and printmaker Debra Arter. Giant II was made at the dimming of day, hours after Giant I, with the same shaped plate.
